Otterrai in fretta tantissimi bianchi.

Ciao,
nero X bianco dominante = bianco in F1
nero X bianco recessivo = nero in F1

I took the freedom to try to compleet this explanation of "Luckeychecco"
Let us look at the things as they realy are and not in a simplistic way.
All depends on the genetic base on the E-locus, the S-locus will determinate if "gold" and/or Silver is influencing the basic colour (and also in less importance on the C-locus and the I-locus {of the White bird} and of course all the other colour genes who are in a mutated form {those written without a "+"} present but hidden) of the used Black and White subjects!!
If these birds where HOMOzygous E/E (Black one), E/E c/c or E/E I/I (White one) and without reinforcers, diluters and melanisers than the answer is simple.
But as most things in live also here the answer is more complicated!
Most chickens we breed with are NOT purebreeds on the E-locus and so the outcome will give many variations, as show us the reality.
These are possible variations on the E-locus for the Black bird :
E/E = purebreed black and black in phenotype;
E/ER = unpure black (Birchen) but also black in phenotype;
E/eWh = unpure black (Wheaten) but also black in phenotype;
E/e+ = unpure black (Bankiva) but also black in phenotype;
E/eb = unpure black (Asiatic) but also black in phenotype.
And to be compleet the White one can have even more combinations on the E-locus (as Rachele said "hide other colours")
These are possible variations on the E-locus for the White bird : {c/c or I/I or I/i+}
E/E = purebreed black and white in phenotype;
E/ER = unpure black (Birchen) but also white in phenotype;
E/eWh = unpure black (Wheaten) but also white in phenotype;
E/e+ = unpure black (Bankiva) but also white in phenotype;
E/eb = unpure black (Asiatic) but also white in phenotype.
ER/ER - ER/eWh - ER/eb - ER/e+ (Birchen) but all white in phenotype;
eWh/eWh - eWh/eb -eWh/e+ (Wheaten) but all white in phenotype;
eb/eb - eb/e+ - e+/e+ (Partridge) but all white in phenotype.
I will not mention the other possible combinations of the other 17 colour locusses, it is already clear enough that it is not as simple as it looks (but in reality you must count also with them!!).
When we breed the same colours among eachother there are almost NO surprices. BUT when we breed different colours among each other than we make a lotery of it!!! The chances are than 5x5x5x5.
As you can imagine when you cross with these different genotype birds, the outcome will be for all different, also in phenotype!!
A "F1" is always the addition of one allel of the father with one allel of the mother and this for ALL genes and not only for the genes we think they have only by looking the outside.
NOT look at your breeding chickens as they where a simple " one gene colour".
SO CONCLUSION : BLACK X WHITE = (in most cases) A LOTERY !!!
When the forum staff find this interesting enough to translate to Italiano it would be my pleasure. Grazie mille, Danny.

This not means we can not make colour crosses!!
When we do colour crosses we must do it with well tought reasons.
There can be several reasons for this:
- we have only one bird in our stock of a certain colour;
- we want to create a "new" colour in our stock;
- we need to bring in our stock better parts (ex: darker crest colour);
- and there are other reasons ....
When we decide to do a colourcross we must do it with animals that we know the (genetic) past about, if not we must first do some test-breeding. (This to become a vieuw on the most principal locus of all: THE E-LOCUS) (E - ER - eWh - eb - e+ only these 5 and there combinations).
That is the only way to not become confrontated with (to much) UNwanted surprices!
Once started with the colourcross (to obtain a calculated result) we must follow the rules of genetics (they are not magic and not so very complicated). The best way to go on with the breeding is " linebreeding".

Haha, scuzami. I not wanted to confuse you, but this is reality (as you expereienced).
When take a little time to learn the basics of the E-locus (5 basics + there combinations) put there the 2 possibilities (infact 3) of the S-locus with together and 95% of the colourgenetics will become clear to you.
Just take the time for that!! |
