It seems it is possible that exchequer coloration excist without Dominant white. In that case the genetic-code is : "E/E S/S*S/- mo/mo".
In theory you become than "black with white pearls" which is not the same as "white with black spots" !!
There is also mentioned that possible recessive white could be the cause for the white background BUT recessive white block ALL production of pigment (red & black) !!
Who breeds this exchequer livorno ???
