Sul Libro Italiano che ho dice :
Exchequer Leghorn ottenuta nel 1919 in Scozia per una mutazione di Blak Leghorn.
Quindi stando a questi documenti l'Ancona non centra.
"
Quindi stando a questi documenti l'Ancona non centra".
As I read the story of these Exchequer Leghorn obtained in 1919 in Scotland the Ancona was indeed the cause !
Was a farmer who became 4000 eggs of White Livorno from Italy and among these where 4 Exchequer !!!
Before there was done a cross between White Livorno (E/E I/I) and Black white mottled Ancona (E/E mo/mo)
Was mentioned that before this where done crosses between Ancona and Minorca which confirm what you wrote "Per alcuni il colore dei tarsi deriverebbe da incroci con la razza Minorca".
The point now is that these descendants (E/E I/I X E/E mo/mo) had a genotype E/E I/i+ Mo+/mo which in the phenotype look as White but are carrier of 1 allele of mottled (Mo+/mo).
As long as these White carrying mottled (E/E I/i+ Mo+/mo) where crossed with the "normal" White leghorn (E/E I/I) all descendants had the White phenotype BUT several of them where carrier of 1 allele mottled (Mo+/mo).
When now where crossed 2 White carrier of 1 allele mottled E/E I/I Mo+/mo X E/E I/I Mo+/mo suddenly appeared the Exchequer Leghorns which was what should have happened in Scotland way-back in 1919 !!
