I asked the Holland Red breeders about this problem.
It waas told also in Holland to breed in "Black" in the Red !!!! BUT NOT ONE of the 5 Red Silkie breeders I know have done this!
Until now they kept them dark Red enough with 2 things:
-the first I already said: SELECTION (always breed with the darkest Red ones)
-the second is to use in your breed also these with the grey pluff (they are a gradation darker that these with red pluff) but in Holland they intend to use only these with the red pluff for the exhibitions, these with the grey pluff only in the breeding.
I already told in Germany they keep it more simple and there the have recognized the Red Silkies with the grey pluff.
