Some things what Fabri wrote in 2008 are not correct !

"B" gene is a sex-linked gene, this means the cock can be heterozygote (read unpure) B/b+ (read as Barred/NON Barred) and than he is dark colored (as the hens) or the cock can be homozygote (read pure) B/B (read as Barred/Barred) and than he is light colored. The hens are, for a sexlinked color, ALWAYs "hemizygote" what is B/- (read as Barred/nothing) which gives a the dark colorations. So a hen is NOT heterozygote but hemizygote for a sex-linked color-gene.

The Barring is NOT different from Sparviero, they have the same B-color-gene (there excist only ONE "Barring-gene" and that is "B").
The "dark barring lines" is caused by black pigment, the "light barring lines" are caused by NO pigment and NOT by "Blue".
It is possible to have a Blue Barred chicken but than it is genetically E/E B/b+ or B/B (when a cock) or B/- (when a hen) Bl/bl+. ("Bl-gene" is a diluter of black-pigment, so it will be the dark lines (where there is pigment) that will be diluted and not the light lines (where there no pigment) these will stay the same).
The hens on the posted photos not have the "Bl"-gene (blue) so they are genetically E/E B/- .

To expain the diffirence in phenotype (what you see on the plumage is not the genotype what is the genoom-code of what you see on the plumage) I give an example :
"Barring-gene" interrupt the deposing of pigment temporay (let us say on 24 hours it interrupt 12 hours and let pass the pigment the next 12 hours ando so on).
If the feathers grow 1 cm in 24 hours than you have a barring of 1/2 cm dark and a barring of 1/2 cm light.
if the feather grow 1/2 cm in 24 hours than you have a barring of 1/4 cm dark and a barring of 1/4 cm light.
The 1/2 cm barring give us the impression of a lighter barred chicken (what we call Sparviero) than that of the 1/4 cm barring (what we call Barring).
The 1/4 cm barring give also the impression of a more tighter barring.

Saluté e buone festività a tutti [SM=x1650010]

If Rachele can explain again in Italiano for me, please? Grazie.
